I have been able to develop my digital skills extensively at ASU through my study of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). One of the first courses in the GIS sequence is Geospatial Data and Technology, where I learned about the different ways that spatial information is stored within computers and how mathematics have generated many different 2-dimensional representations of our 3D planet.

I used what I learned in the class to generate an informative Powerpoint presentation about the different problems with water and sanitation services in 4 countries in northern South America. The class helped me to take relevant data in the form of an excel file and join it to spatially referenced information with ESRI ArcGIS. Through this process, I was able to create the visual representation of the issue seen on the last slide. Geospatial Data and Technology was instrumental in my course choices during the following years.
